Artist biography

Versteeg is currently finishing his bachelor’s degree in Painting at the University of Fine Arts in Lisbon. He has participated in several events and residencies around the world, from Lisbon to Hong Kong, Barcelona, Miami, Macau, Paris, Tokyo, Tenerife and Australia. His illustrations also feature in two published books that discuss the relationship between animals and humans

Artist Practice

Rooted in street art, Versteeg's practice evolved from painting walls to working on paper, wood, glass, canvas, and ceramics. Mixing techniques and materials, he employs oil, acrylic, and majolica across various mediums, combining spontaneity and precision.

Inspired by observations of wild flora and fauna, Versteeg explores species in their environments, addressing environmental issues like pollution and animal trafficking. His work questions our behaviour and impact on the growing scarcity of resources and the loss of biodiversity.
